Homabay County ODM Delegate Hillary Alila {Pictured above} and Former Promoter of Conjsetina Achieng’ Robert Tongoi of the Jab Jab promotions has said that they will help Conjestina pay her house rent.
This comes after a local television aired her current state in what Kenyans have come out to condemn the Government for failing to help the Former Kenyan Icon who had raised the countries name both locally and internationally.
On second of September, a local television channel traced Former boxing Icon Conjestina Achieng at her Lucky summer residence and did an interview with her.
The footage that was aired that night made Kenyans from all walks of life condemn the government for taking a blind eye on the Boxing Legend who had brought fame to the Country and many medal’s.
Conjestina troubles started on January 20th 2011 when she was admitted at the Mathari Hospital in Nairobi after she burnt her boxing gear and exhibited mental developmental disability.
The pugilist, nicknamed the "Hands of stone," then, had to be tranquilised before being admitted after she turned violent to the doctors that were treating her.
During the interview, it was evident that she had a developmental emotional problem that needed urgent attention.
Daniel Ndambuki popularly known to his fans as “Mwalimu Kingang’i” posted on his Facebook page that he had accepted to pay her Sh2000 rent for the whole year as she had not paid for the last four months according to the interview.
Now Orange Kenya, a Mobile telephone operator has launched a pay bill number 222222 that Kenyans can use to assist the Heroine get medical attention.
Robert Alai a blogger had already together with his friends contributed Sh46, 750 through his "Kenyans For Conjestina" initiative by 1: pm yesterday, He said that he was saddened to watch Conjestina’s current state and wondered why she was left to suffer like that yet she was a hero sometimes back.
The Homabay County delegate Alila and her Former Promoter Robert Tongoi said yesterday that they will assist in paying her rent and castigated the Boxing Leadership for letting her suffer.
“Conjestina used to lift the Kenyan name as a Boxing star and was awarded many medals when she was well, then she would lift the name of the country but now she has been deserted, why is this happening?” Alila quipped.
“Is it that she was useful only then and now she is of no use to the Boxing fraternity?” He asked.
Alila said that the Boxing leadership had failed Kenyans and they should quit the office for letting its Legends suffer.
